how did you learnt english
Well.. I started studying English at school when I was 9-10 years old, that's when you used to start back then, in primary school. Basically, there were 4 years of English lessons at primary school, then another 4 years at high school. When I finished high school, I spent one month in Bournemouth (UK), thanks to a student program sponsored by the British Council: the students stayed with an English family for a month, and had English lessons during the week. I've got to say that I loved it, really enjoy myself and, although you spend most of the time with your Spanish friends (and therefore not practising a lot of English xD) it help me start getting used to the English accent, as you are living with an English family.
After that, a further 5 years at university (my degree is English Philology - English Language and Literature). I also took a conversation class for a month at the British Council school.
When I finished uni, I moved to London and I lived and worked there for 7 years. During that time, I took several English courses to keep on improving my English, and I married an English guy, which also helps xDDD
When I was young, for many years I also used to have a pen pal - I know it's not "fashionable" anymore xD since nobody writes letters any longer. I used to exchange correspondency with a French girl and a Japanese girl. Obviously, we would use English to communicate (my French and Japanese aren't that good

)
I talk to my husband in English at home (that's what we are used to doing), so that I don't forget all that I've learned all these years xD I also read English books, and usually watch telly in English (films and series).
It's all down to practising, not being afraid of trying to speak the language, listening to English as much as possible (radio, TV, etc), reading in English, etc. Ideally, you should move to an English speaking country for a while, as there you have no option but to communicate in English. I can appreciate that may not always be possible, but it's the best way.
As for your academy, if you're not learning much I would suggest you try to find a better one. Otherwise you're just wasting your (o your parents I guess xD) money.
