Para la expresión "poner una canción" no se usa en inglés el verbo "put" sino simplemente "play": "played us a song".

"should" indica lo que yo pienso que deberías hacer aunque no sea obligatorio pero pienso que es la mejor opción, mientras que "ought to" indica una obligación moral. Tiene que ver con el punto de vista del hablante, dependiendo de la importancia que le quieras dar al consejo:
"I think you should take the course" - es mi punto de vista, simplemente. Creo que sería bueno para tí, pero vamos, que tú mismo.
"I think you ought to take the course" - creo que es importante que hagas el curso.

"What" se usa en general, cuando las respuesta es una entre miles "What is your name?"; mientras que "which" es para elegir entre opciones, la respuesta es más limitada "which shirt should I wear, the black one or the blue one?". (parecido a las diferencias entre "qué" y "cuál" en español).
