The whole SimPort issue leads to some confusion. So maybe I can clear things up a bit.
I have already posted it in another thread but it got already drowned. So here is something about Simport from a developer's point of view.
The producers mentioned that no objects will be transported. The Sim will only wear clothes/hair which is installed at the target.
I'm a Microsoft web application developer and so please let me explain how web services like SimPort work:
First off the Sim will not be transported as is. It's not like a tube which the Sim travels from A to B. Only the data which DESCRIBE the Sim get transfered. All clothing and hair have a unique ID which is persisted in the installed content database.
At the target computer these IDs are queried in the content database and the Sim gets reassembled. So it's possible your Sim has different clothing and hair if your friend has certain content not installed because the objects get replaced by default objects if the ID cannot be found.
Now for the setup: A web service is a mechanism with a service broker (Server at EA) and endpoints (our PCs). There's a server application running and client applications. They share contracts whith each other (developers call it interface). This interface describes properties (data types), methods (functions) with their signature (input parameter types and output data type) and message events.
The client applications must implement this interface and that grants only the specified data types can make it through.
How it works:
Every client (i.e. you) has to register at the service broker (is handled by the game) with a unique ID (which is generated internally). Now when you want to send a Sim on tour his data gets packed into a container (class) which is labeled with the ID of the target client.
The service broker receives that container and notifies the target through an event (imagine it as an information impulse "message for you").
The target client responses it's ready to receive. (*)
Now the broker opens a communication channel, sends the container to the target and keeps the line open for communication. You receive status updates about your Sim's performance."
Esperamos tus fotos sazare.
